Who we are?

Phoenix Angels is a not for profit (Sec 8) company promoted with the aim of providing a platform which supports entrepreneurs by connecting them to a diverse group of investors. Our investors include seasoned businessmen, professionals, family offices and HNI’s.

We strongly believe that today’s new age entrepreneurs require not just the financial capital but also experiential capital that comes from years of industry knowledge and experience. With our investment philosophy of not being just a financial investor but using our network and expertise to mentor the startups to the next level the gain to startups is not just the funding but the access to network, guidance and mentorship.

Power of collective investment

A new investor can start with a small investment and still make a meaningful value proposition for the startup with combined funding from various members. Our members can invest as low as Rs 5 lakhs per investment in a startup and reap the benefits of investing in Startups.

Shiraj Jacob

Shiraj Jacob

Shiraj is Private Equity veteran who is a wealth management expert and is the founder of multiple investment advisory firms. He is presently a partner of SRR Capital. An Alumnus of IIM-Bangalore, he has been associated with Standard Chartered, HDFC and Muthoot Fincorp where he accomplished many industry leading performances.

Joe Ranji

Joe Ranji

Joe hails from one of the leading business families in Kerala. He is a director at Manjila’s Foods which owns the “Double Horse” brand of food products. Joe Ranji has an experience of working with cross- cultural teams in Atlanta & Georgia, during his past stints with Shell, Chevron & Toyota. He graduated from Everest University in Computer Information Science and completed his masters from Phoenix University in Information Systems.

Harikrishnan

Harikrishnan

Hari is Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from IIM-K. A partner at R Rajan Associates where he heads the startup focused practice. He presently works with over a hundred startups, helping them with legal compliance, fund raising, valuation and financial modeling. A startup enthusiast, he takes sessions to startups at various forums such as the Kerala Startup Mission and Head-start network.

Membership

Unlike regular angel networks, we do not take a share in the profits earned by our investors. We work on a fixed annual membership model, collected from all members. All members are required to pay a joining fee at the time of signing up.

Our members will get quarterly updates on the performance of the startups in which they have investment in.

We encourage our members to commit an amount of Rs 25 lakhs over a period of 5 years from the year of their joining, so that they can invest in multiple startups during this period.

Investment Philosophy

The risk and rewards of startup investments are well known. The best way to mitigating the risk level is by careful selection of startups investment. Our team does a detailed analysis of the proposals we receive before presenting it to the members for their interest.  We invest in startups that have a product that solves a real problem.

We do not invest in an idea alone and strongly believe that the team behind is more important. We work with the startup founders to ensure that the startup is able to scale to the next level. Our typical investments are between Rs 50 lacs to Rs 150 lacs and the startup that we select would already be having a marketable product looking at scaling.
